Bundling is not one tactic, it is a family of them, and each solves a different problem. Some lift average order value, some clear slow stock, some drive trial of a new product. Picking the right format for your goal is what separates a bundle that prints money from one that just gives away margin. Here is the full tour.

Fixed kits

A curated set sold together at a small discount versus buying the items separately. Kits work when the combination is obvious and the products genuinely belong together, like a starter set or a gift box. They raise AOV and remove the guesswork of what pairs well.

Quantity and volume deals

Tiered pricing on a single product: buy more, save more. Best for consumables and anything people reorder. The shopper stocks up, you get a bigger basket, and per-unit margin still holds as long as the ladder is set with care.

BOGO and gift-with-purchase

Buy one get one, or a free gift at a threshold, is powerful for driving trial and clearing stock. Use BOGO to introduce a product you want people to try, and gift-with-purchase to push order value past a target without discounting your core range.

Mix-and-match (build your own)

The shopper fills a set of slots from a pool you choose and unlocks a reward. It feels personal and works where taste varies, such as flavors, scents, or styles. It combines the AOV lift of a bundle with the engagement of letting people build their own.

How to choose

  • Want more units per order on a staple product: quantity or volume deals.
  • Want to raise AOV with obvious pairings: fixed kits.
  • Want trial of a new product or to clear stock: BOGO or gift-with-purchase.
  • Want engagement and personalization: mix-and-match.

Keep the mechanics simple

Whatever format you pick, the shopper should see the deal clearly, understand the saving, and get the discount applied automatically at the cart. Complexity kills conversion. A selling bar that opens a clean bundle popup keeps setup easy for you and the offer frictionless for the customer.
