Setting Up Gratify in Under 10 Minutes: First Campaign Walkthrough

From installation to your first live points campaign — a step-by-step setup guide with screenshots and common gotchas.

Gratify is designed to be live in under 10 minutes for most stores. This guide walks you through installation, initial configuration, and launching your first points campaign — from a clean Shopify admin.


Step 1: Install Gratify from the Shopify App Store

  1. Go to the Shopify App Store and search for "Gratify by Shopiment."
  2. Click Add app and authorise the required permissions.
  3. Gratify will install and redirect you to its dashboard inside Shopify admin.

Permissions Gratify requires:

  • Read/write customers — to track and update points balances.
  • Read orders — to trigger earning rules on purchases.
  • Write discounts — to generate reward codes.
  • Read products — to configure product-specific earning rules.

Step 2: Enable the app embed

This is the most commonly missed step.

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customise.
  2. Click App embeds (bottom-left panel).
  3. Find Gratify Loyalty Widget and toggle it ON.
  4. Save.

If this step is skipped, the loyalty widget will not appear on your store — regardless of any other configuration. See the troubleshooting article if you've done this step and the widget still isn't showing.


Step 3: Set your earning rules

In Gratify Dashboard → Earning Rules:

  1. Purchase points — Set your base earning rate (recommended: 1 point per $1 for most stores).
  2. Account creation — Enable and set points (recommended: 150–200 points).
  3. Review submission — Enable and connect your review app (Judge.me, Okendo, Loox, or Stamped).
  4. Optional: Enable birthday capture and set birthday points.

Start simple. You can always add more earning rules later. Launching with 3–4 clear rules is better than launching with 12 confusing ones.


Step 4: Configure your reward catalogue

In Gratify Dashboard → Rewards:

  1. Create your first reward: a low-threshold discount or free shipping unlock.
    • Recommended: 300 points = free shipping on next order.
  2. Create a second reward: a mid-tier reward.
    • Recommended: 700 points = $10 discount.
  3. Optional: Add a high-threshold aspirational reward.
    • Recommended: 2,000 points = free product (choose a high-perceived-value, low-COGS product).

Step 5: Set your tier structure

In Gratify Dashboard → Tiers:

  1. Enable the tier system.
  2. Configure tier thresholds based on 12-month qualifying spend.
  3. Set per-tier benefits (earning multipliers, free shipping unlocks, early access).
  4. Name your tiers.

For a first-time setup, use the default Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum with Gratify's recommended thresholds. You can adjust after seeing how your customer base distributes.


Step 6: Customise the loyalty widget

In Gratify Dashboard → Widget:

  1. Set widget position (bottom-right recommended for desktop).
  2. Choose widget colour scheme (should match your brand primary colour).
  3. Customise widget copy if desired.
  4. Preview on mobile and desktop before saving.

Step 7: Test as a customer

Before going live to your full customer base:

  1. Create a test customer account on your store.
  2. Place a small test order.
  3. Verify points appear in the customer's dashboard.
  4. Test redeeming a reward.
  5. Verify the reward code applies correctly at checkout.

Step 8: Announce the program

Send a launch email to your existing customer list. This is one of the highest-performing emails you'll ever send — your existing customers have been loyal without any reward, and you're about to retroactively credit them.

Retroactive points option: Gratify can import historical order data and award points for past purchases on launch day. If you choose to do this (recommended), calculate each customer's balance and include it in the launch email.

Launch email subject options:

  • "You've been loyal — here's what you've already earned"
  • "We just launched our rewards program — and you're already ahead"
  • "Your [X] points are waiting. Meet Gratify."
