BFCM Announcement Bar Playbook: 7 Bars to Run Across Cyber Week

A day-by-day calendar of announcement bar copy, timing, and targeting for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

BFCM is the highest-stakes window of the year for Shopify stores. Most merchants run one promo bar for the entire week. The merchants who outperform run a day-by-day rotation with escalating urgency. Here's the calendar that consistently works.

The 7-bar BFCM calendar

  1. T-7 days (Pre-BFCM teaser): "Our biggest sale of the year drops Black Friday. Sign up for early access."
  2. T-1 day (Early access): "Subscribers: shop the sale 12h early. Starts tonight 8pm ET."
  3. Black Friday: "Black Friday: up to 40% off everything. Free shipping over $50." (Countdown to midnight Sunday.)
  4. Saturday/Sunday (Mid-sale): "Most popular items selling fast. 30% off ends Monday."
  5. Cyber Monday morning: "Cyber Monday: extra 10% off site-wide with code CYBER. 24 hours only." (Live countdown.)
  6. Cyber Monday afternoon: "Final hours · Free expedited shipping over $75 · Sale ends 11:59pm."
  7. Cyber Monday +1 (Last chance): "Extended 12 hours by popular demand. After noon today, prices return to full." (Use sparingly - only when it's genuinely true.)

Targeting rules that matter

  • Show the early-access bar only to email subscribers (UTM or customer-tag rule).
  • Show the cart-recovery bar only to visitors with items in cart - different copy, more urgency.
  • Geo-rotate so EU sees EU shipping, US sees US shipping.

Setup tips

  • Build all 7 bars 1–2 weeks ahead. Pre-schedule the start and end times in Flexibar.
